भारत के राष्ट्रीय मानवाधिकार आयोग के बारे में

भारत का राष्ट्रीय मानवाधिकार आयोग 12 अक्टूबर, 1993 को स्थापित किया गया था। जिस क़ानून के तहत इसकी स्थापना की गई है वह मानव अधिकारों का संरक्षण अधिनियम (PHRA), 1993 है, जिसे मानव अधिकारों के संरक्षण (संशोधन) अधिनियम, 2006 द्वारा संशोधित किया गया है।

यह पेरिस के सिद्धांतों के अनुरूप है, जिसे अक्टूबर 1991 में पेरिस में आयोजित मानवाधिकारों के संवर्धन और संरक्षण के लिए राष्ट्रीय संस्थानों पर पहली अंतर्राष्ट्रीय कार्यशाला में अपनाया गया था, और इसके विनियम 48/134 द्वारा संयुक्त राष्ट्र की महासभा द्वारा समर्थन किया गया था 20 दिसंबर, 1993।

एनएचआरसी मानव अधिकारों के संवर्धन और संरक्षण के लिए भारत की चिंता का एक प्रतीक है।

PHRA की धारा 2 (1) (d) मानवाधिकारों को जीवन से संबंधित अधिकारों, स्वतंत्रता, समानता और संविधान द्वारा गारंटीकृत व्यक्ति की गरिमा या अंतर्राष्ट्रीय वाचाओं में सन्निहित और भारत में अदालतों द्वारा लागू करने के रूप में परिभाषित करती है।
